When is an apple like a fish?—When it’s a crab. When is a man not a man?—When he’s a-ehaving.
When is coffee like the earth?—When it is ground. When is a sailor like a stable?-—When he is “aloft.” .
When does the pine pine?—When the leaves leave.
Why was the cat caught?—Because of its paws’ pause. Which fish should be the best carpenter? —The saw-fish.
What part of a turkey does the farmer like?—The crop. When is a boy like a ’ parcel ?—When he is wrapped up. What is the most popular herb with capitalists ? —Mint. Why did the top stair? —Because it saw the compass point. What part of a lady represents a boy? —Her chin (urchin). Why should you pity turtles?—Because theirs is a hard case.
What part of a shop is like every other part ?—;The counter-part. ' Why is a wood like a luggage van?— Because it’s full of trunks.
What is it that we can give to others and still keep?—A promise. What two letters are children very fond of?—C and Y (candy). Why is a horse like . o?—Because “Gee” (G) makes it “Go.”
Which is the most impudent thing in your kitchen ?—The sauce-pan.
What is that which is broken as soon as it is mentioned? —Silence.
When is a piano like a village green?— When the children play On it. What sea would make a good sleeping room?—The Adriatic (a dry attic). ' ,* Why is a well-baked loaf like the sun . Because it is light, and rises. What must stand before it is able to sit? J—A ’member of Parliament.
