What is claimed as New Zealand’s first women’s sports gathering, providing competition in the recognized field as well as track events, was held by the Hawera Ladies’ Amateur Athletic Club last evening. Competitors attended from an area between New Plymouth and Hawera, though the numbers and the standard of performances were affected adversely by the cold rain squalls. Bollond (Hawera) 92ft Din; discus, Miss B. Stevens (Hawera), 61ft Idin; putting the shot, Miss B. Stevens, 24ft; hop, step and jump, Miss N. Rowlands (Eltham), 30ft sins.
