To Be Rid of Freckles
No girl who thinks anything of her complexion could allow it to be spoilt by a crop of freckles, when there are so many effective cures.
That crop of freckles may often be prevented by applying equal parts of alcohol and rose water (or elderflower water), first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Sun freckles are more difficult to remove than ordinary, straight-forward sunburn. The best treatments aro still the oldfashioned ones. Medicine has not progressed with regard to freckles. Apply equal parts of lemon juice, honey, and olive oil at bedtime. Almost every sun freckle cream has a basis of lemon juice. A .good bleach is lemon juice mixed with a little cold, boiled water and a pinch of borax. This is a capital old-world recipe Powdered sal ammoniac, two drachms; eau-de-Cologne, four (fid) drachms; water (distilled), one quart. An important point to note is the colour of the freckles. If they are pale, an application of lemon juice, with equal parts of orange flower juice, may suffice to remove them, but if they are the darker and deeper sort a stronger prescription will be necessary.
This is a suitable one: Take two parts of lemon juice (strained), and add-one part each of peroxide of hydrogen, glycerine, and rosewater (or elder-flower water), and brush into the freckles at night-time, with a fine camel-hair brush. Allow to dry upon the freckles.
