FATAL ACCIDENTS

MOTOR CYCLES COLLIDE WITH CARS. (Per United Press Association.) Timaru, October 17. A fatal accident occurred at Winchester, fifteen miles north of Timaru, shortly before seven o’clock to-night. Harry K. Anderton, a young clerk employed at the Bank of New South Wales, Geraldine, was riding a motor cycle towards Timaru with Francie Hazel Smith on the pillion when he collided with a car driven by J. Connolly, of Seadown, at Langford’s Corner, which is dangerous sport. Anderton was picked up unconscious and brought to the Timaru hospital where he died at 9 o’clock. The girl is not seriously injured. Another accident occurred at Evans street, Timaru, at six o’clock tonight, a young man named Wateon, a resident of Morven, being thrown from a motor cycle. Suffering from a fractured skull he was taken to hospital in a serious condition. MARRIED MAN KILLED. Wellington, October 17. Through colliding with a motor car at a sharp bend on the main road near Paremata a motor cyclist, Howard Prince, of 8, Alameda Terrace, Wellington; was killed at 5.15 p.m. to-day. His,wife, who was riding in the side-car, was uninjured. The car, travelling in the opposite direction, was driven by Dr William MacDonald, of Willis street. Wellington.
