SPECIAL AIR STAMP

ISSUE BY POSTAL DEPARTMENT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, September 25. In anticipation of the commencement of aerial service within the Dominion during the next few months the Postal Department lias decided to Issue a special air stamp. The special rate to be charged has also been fixed provisionally. 'The Department states that it is prepared to forward correspondence offered for despatch by air services within the Dominion on approved routes and, run according to approved timetables. For this purpose an air mail postage'stamp of the denomination of 3d. is being produced. This denomination has been decided upon as it is proposed that the air transit charge within New Zealand is to be 3d. per ounce, in addition to ordinary pastage. The proposed charge is one half of the Australian rate.
