RADIO CLUB.
To The Editor. Sir, —Your leading article of the 25th inst. regarding the trouble between the Club and Mr Parsons, came as rather a surprise to many of your' readers and also to members of the Radio Club who have been in the .dark as to what has been taking place between their executive and Mr Parsons. I am sure had it not been for the fact that Mr Parsons notified the executive that he wished a meeting of the members of the club called, to clear the matter up, we would still be ignorant of the facts which your leading article has brought to light. Now, Sir, there are one or two things, I would like to bring before the notice of the listeners. Mr Jones stated at a meeting held on Monday evening that the executive had given a lot of valuable time in connection with concerts, etc. (granted.) But, Sir, I can say without fear of contradiction not one of their concerts has come anywhere near to the standard of those given, to all keen radio listeners, by Mr Parsons from Station 4ZP, who has not an elaborate studio equipped with furnishings costings, as we have been told, .£lO9. Mr Jones also stated that if Mr Parsons was going to carry on with the Radio Club, several of the members of the executive were going to resign. So Sir, it appears to me that Mr Jones and those members of the executive are determined, at whatever cost to the club and listeners, to cut adrift from Mr Parsons and 4ZP, and so deprive us of the excellent music, and other entertainments he has been giving us. I may here say that the club was formed to work in conjunction with Station 4ZP, not against it, as they have been doing of late. Now Sir, in conclusion, I would like to suggest to members of the club, that if we still want to enjoy the splendid programmes supplied by Station 4ZP, the Southland Radio Club become extinct and another under the name, “4ZP Radio Club” be formed. —I am, etc., “RADIO OWNER.”
