RIVERSDALE NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) The last of a series of euchre tournaments in aid of the Riversdale Athletic Society was held in the new pavilion on Monday night, September 15. A large crowd attended, and a most interesting evening’s play resulted in the following winners: Ladies: Miss M. Dillon; consolation, Miss B. Smith. Men: Mr J. Hodge; consolation, Mr A. Kelly. The aggregate prizes were awarded to Mrs J. Stevenson and Mr D. Lynch. In the absence of Mr J. Qualter, president of the society, Mr T. Campbell, thanked those present for their attendance and the interest shown in the series of tournaments. The Riversdale Plunket Society met on Wednesday afternoon. After some discussion Mrs Denniston proposed that a children’s Christmas tree be arranged for at a later date nearing Christinas and a little folks’ fancy dress parade run in connection with it to raise funds. This motion was seconded by Mrs Ibbotson and carried. It was decided that the society should meet every third Wednesday of the month and as many new members as possible would be greatly induced to join. It was decided not to send a delegate to the Dominion conference to be held in Wellington.
At a special meeting of the Riversdale Garden Club it was decided that a flower exhibit be held on October 14 providing the weather was fine.
