RUMOUR DENIED

CHANGE IN PICTURE THEATRE CONTROL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, September IS. A denial of the report that there was a possibility of the Fox organization taking over the New Zealand interests of Williainson’s Films (N.Z ) Ltd. is given by Mr A. R. Shepard, general manager for the latter firm. Mr Shepard stated last evening that he had only yesterday received cable advice from his managing director, Mr Beaumont Smith, who is at present on a business trip to Melbourne, that the reported deal was absolutely without foundation. In an interview to-day Sir Victor Wilson, president of the Film Distributors’ Association, said that he had received a cable message from Mr Munro, acting-managing director of the Fox Corporation, to deny that the organization contemplates the purchase of theatre interests in New Zealand. Mr Munro says: “We are not, interested. Please publish denial in interview ■ to-day.”
