POLICE REWARDED
ARREST OF INCENDIARISTS. DETAILS OF DISTRIBUTION. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, September 17. The Minister of Justice (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe) announced that it had been decided that the reward of .£250 offered jointly by the Council of the Fire and Accident Underwriters’ Association of New Zealand and the State Fire Office, in connection with the incendiary fires in Christchurch last year, will be paid to members of the Police Force who were instrumental in securing the arrest and conviction of the offenders. In accordance with the recommendations of the Commissioner of Police, Constable Gillum who was primarily responsible for the result, will be paid £220 and the balance of £3O will be divided between the following members of the force who, subsequent to the arrest, obtained evidence which was presented to the Court on the trial of the offenders: Detective-Sergeant Young £9, Detective Findlay £9, actingDetectivc Halcrow £9, and Sergeant liarlison £3.
