SWIMMING
CARNIVAL FOR H.M.S. DUNEDIN. INTERESTING PROGRAMME. Arranged for the officers and men of H.M.S. Dunedin, the swimming carnival to take place at the Municipal Baths on Friday evening at 8 pjm. promises to be interesting, as novelty events have been blended judiciously in the programme and it is the firaf of the season. The matching of local talent with sailors from visiting warships has been responsible for thrilling contests in the past, and a runaway victory for the bluejackets need not be anticipated on this occasion. The programme includes a water polo match between the Dunedin and Southland, a relay race, Timaru High v. Southland High, other relay races, swimming displays and handicap races. The hockey girls have also been catered for, as they are to show their prowess in a 33 1-3 yards dash,
