HEDGEHOPE NOTES
(From Our Correspondent.) On Friday evening the Hedgehope Football Club held a victory ball in the Hedgehope Hall to celebrate the winning of the junior football competition of the Cent.ral District Sub-Union. The hall, which Was decorated with yellow and black streamer.'', was filled to overflowing. The mus.c was supplied by Duerden’s Orchestra, while Mr R. Diamond made a capable M.C. Mr W. Clark, president of the Central District SubUnion, presented the cup to Mr A. Skinner, captain of the local team. In making the presentation Mr Clark congratulated the players on their success, this being the first occasion on which a team had been entered from this district. He hoped next year they would again enter and meet with success. They had, he said, the finest pack of forwards in the competition, but their backs required strengthening. He also remarked on the large gathering, and said that such support was great encouragement for the team. Mr A. Skinner thanked Mr Clark on
behalf of the team, and said they were pleased to have won the cup and hoped to do so next year. Mr A. McPherson is at present visiting Mr and Mrs W. Horton, Hedgehope. Mr and Mrs Baineaves, Southbridge, have been visiting friends in Hedgehope. Mrs H. Leebody is away on holiday. Miss I. Kania, of the Lumsden School, is spending her vacation with her parents. Miss Smith is spending the winter vacation in Arrowtown.
