AMERICAN CROOK
“LIKE ORDINARY TOURIST.” (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Brussels, September 1. Jack Diamond, the New York crook, landed at Antwerp, and the local journalists were amazed to find that “he is just like an ordinary American tourist.” He was later detained by the Passport Office pending instructions from here. It is expected that he will be declarel an undesirable immigrant and be returned to America. A previous message from London stated: Jack Diamond, a gang crookster, having made New York too hot to hold him decided to visit Europe. A search located him aboard the Belgenland under the name of Nolan. He had cleaned up hundreds of pounds playing poker with passengers. When the ship reached Plymouth detectives interviewed Diamond and three companions, who were not allowed to land in England. They are going on to Antwerp.
