A Greymouth tc-legram states that the following are the results of the elections of the United Mine Workers of New Zealand: President, Mr John Smeaton (Brunnerton) re-elected unopposed; secretary’ and treasurer, Mr Angus McLagan, (Brunnerton), re-elected unopposed;- Australian delegate, Mr E. Ixock (Millerton), elected by 1330 votes. Next came Messrs D. Hayward (Denniston) with 733, A. Wood (Waikato) with 649 and W. Davidson (North Island) 423. Mr Henry Lethaby, who died at St. Clair on Sunday -at the age of 78 years, was a very well-known business man in Dunedin where he had lived for nearly 60 years, states a Press Association telegram. He was born in Blagdon, Devonshire, in 1852 and arrived in Dunedin with his wife in 1873, at once starting in business as an umbrella manufacturer. He retired into private life some 20 years ago. Mr Lethaby had a family of 10, six of whom are still alive: George Henry (Auckland), John (Christchurch), William Edward (Waikato), Harry Herbert (Dunedin), Charles Frederick (Wellington) and Mrs Charles Taylor (Christchurch). Mrs Lethaby died 23 years ago and 12 years ago Mr Lethaby married Miss Ansell, of Dunedin, who survives him.
