IMPOSSIBLE TASK

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ZEALAND. STATEMENT BY SIR GEORGE FOWLDS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, June 13. “I feel bound to say that the University of New Zealand is trying to carry out an impossible task and is not doing it particularly well,” said Sir George Fowlds, when speaking at the Auckland University College’s capping ceremony. “Tire time is coming when we will either have four separate universities or a university incorporating the Auckland and Victoria University Colleges and the Massey College, as the University of the North of New Zealand.” Sir George Fowlds added that he personally favoured the latter proposal.
