MOTOR MISHAPS
MANY IN NEW PLYMOUTH.
(Per United Press Association.)
New Plymouth, May 25.
Ten motor smashes of varying degrees of severity occurred in New Plymouth and districts during the week-end. One cause was the heavy motor traffic occasioned by the 17,000 people attending the British Rugby match. A light car driven by D. C. Candish and a- heavier one driven by J. H. Moody collided at an intersection. The light car landed upside down on the footpath and two occupants miraculously escaped with only slight cuts. A two-year-old child, Lester Gates, received severe head injuries in a collision at Tariki. He is in hospital and is improving. Several other accidents are reported, but personal injuries are only slight. A heavy car belonging to F. P. Grundy was removed from the street in front of his garage and later last night was found on the Main South Road fifteen miles away completely burned. , •
