FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA

MISS JOHNSON MORE CHEERFUL. (United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) Rangoon, May 15. The plane Jason was brought after repairs at Insein to the Rangoon racecourse shortly before dusk. Miss Johnson intends making a test flight at seven in the morning after which she will leave for Bangkok before ten. Though she is still worried by the disappointment in failing in the object of her flight owing to the loss of two days caused by the mishap, she is now more cheerful. She is also hopeful of successfully completing the rest of the journey. TEST FLIGHT ■ PLANE LN GOOD ORDER. (Rec. 7.20 p.m.) Rangoon, May 16. Miss Amy Johnson made a test flight early this morning, and it was very successful. She hovered over the racecourse and rose to 1200 ft. She stated that the repairs were all good. She is leaving between nine and ten for Bangkok (Siam). The weather locally is bright. DEPARTURE FOR BANGKOK (Rec. 9.40 p.m.) Rangoon, May 16. Miss Johnson, departed for Bangkok at 10.30. There was heavy rain, but the wind was not strong locally. The weather suddenly became worse after 9 o’clock. HINKLER NOT MAKING FLIGHT. London, May 15. Mr Bert Hinkler stated that there was no foundation for the story that he intends flying to Australia.
