TEACHERS’ INSTITUTE
INVERCARGILL BRANCH,
SOCIAL FUNCTION
The first social evening of the Invercargill branch of the New Zealand leachers Institute was held in the Rosewood Lounge last evening, about 100 being present. The president of the institute (Air. D. Leckie), welcomed those present and Mr. L. Clapp acted as master of ceremonies during the evening. The function was kept going with social chat, songs and choruses and a very enjoyable evening resulted. The secretary (Mr. G. Grifiths) briefly outlined the proposed activities of the “discussion circle” for the coming year and the chief inspector (Mr. W. A. Service) spoke on similar lines. The chairman of the Education Board (Mr. A. W. Jones) also addressed those present and congratulated the institute on its work.
