HEAVY TRAFFIC
WIRELESS TELEPHONE
PROBABLE EXTENSION TO NEW ZEALAND
SUCCESS OF SERVICE
(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.)
(Rec. 8.0 p.m.) Sydney, May 1. Traffic on the wireless telephone between Australia and London -is already heavy. There were 24 calls at £6 each last night, and the maximum number is booked for to-night. Applications for calls at the London end are equally satisfactory. Mr E. T. Fisk, managing director of Amalgamated Wireless, Ltd., discussing the success of the radio telephone service, said that there was even a more wonderful age before us. “The next radio telephone service which we hope to establish will be between Australia and New Zealand, which project is now under consideration,” he said. "It is merely a matter of repeating the process now in operation between Sydney and London. Then will follow a service between Australia, the United States and the rest of the world.”
Mr Fisk added: “While British experts claimed that the Anglo-Australian service could not be accomplished, we always maintained that it was possible, as tve proved last night.”
