ALTITUDE RECORD

NEW ZEALAND GIRL’S ACHIEVEMENT. (Per United Press Association.) Blenheim, February 5. What is believed to be an altitude record for New Zealand was achieved yesterday afternoon by Miss P. Bennett, one of the Marlborough Aero Club’s pilots, when in a climb of over two hours she reached 19,000 feet. A. E. Clouston, who went up in another Moth at the same time could not get beyond 13,500 though he had previously been up to 16,000. Miss Bennett is very light and her machine was in special trim, and these are factors which would assist her in breaking through the "ceiling.”
