Oreti Shipping Company. (U.S.S.): Union Steam Ship Company, GENERAL NOTES. The arrival of the Union Company’s Waipahi late yesterday afternoon caused quite a stir by being painted white. She is not discharging, but is loading a quantity of general cargo. She was expected' to sail late last night. The Awarua arrived from Stewart Island yesterday with 25 passengers and a quantity of fish. She returned to the Island at 3 o’clock in the afternoon with 13 passengers and cargo and will arrive back on Wednesday morning.

The Government steamer Tutanekai left yesterday after having landed supplies at the Southern lighthouses. After visiting Stewart Island, she will go to Puysegur Point, Milford Sound, Westport, Greymouth and finally Wellington. t Messrs. H. L. Tapley and Company advise that the Calm is due to arrive at Bluff on Monday. She will sail the same evening for Dunedin.

The Union Company's Waipiata is expected to leave Auckland to-morrow for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is due at Bluff on February 12. The Union- Company’s « inter-colonial steamer Maheno leaves Wellington next Saturday for Bluff direct. She is due at Bluff on Sunday evening and sails on Monday evening for Melbourne via Milford Sound.

The freighter Karetii leaves Sydney tomorrow for Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at the latter port on February 18. Messrs. Dalgety and Company advise that the captain of the Shaw, Savill liner Tamaroa, has wirelessed that he expects to arrive at Auckland on Wednesday, February

The Turakina arrived at Lyttelton last .Thursday morning from New Plymouth to continue loading. She proceeds to Wellington, Bluff and Port Chalmers, sailing finally from, Dunedin on February 20 for London and west coast ports of the United Kingdom. Bringing general cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin, the Canadian National steamer Canadian Explorer is reported to have left Halifax on January 27.
