CHARGE OF ASSAULT. At the Police Court yesterday morning before Messrs A. Macpherson and M. Miller, Justices of the Peace, George Joseph Hunt was charged with being found drunk in a public place, to wit, Dee street, with assaulting Wilfred James Wood, and with wilfully breaking one window, valued at 25/-, the property of William Todd and Co. Senior-Sergeant Fox, who prosecuted, said that at 8.30 accused went into a shooting gallery in Dee street. He said that he had had a fight at Wallacetown and produced a blood-covered handkerchief as evidence of it. He remained at the gallery during the evening and after 10 o’clock the proprietor, Wood, spoke to him. He then struck Wood with his fist.
