More women doctors are sent out to West Africa by the Colonial Office than to all the other colonies and protectorates. Their salary starts- at £6OO a year. An important deposit of lignite, or brown coal, estimated to contain upward of seven million tons, has been discovered west of Abitibi Lake, Ontario.
