CRUDE OIL BURNER

NEW ENGINE FOR AEROPLANES.

MANCHESTER MAN’S INVENTION.

(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, October 3. Air trials under the auspices of the Air Ministry took place at Cardington, near Bedford, this week of a new aeroplane engine, which is the invention of a Manchester engineer, Mr Alan Chorlton. The engine burns crude oil from which there is no danger of an explosion such as may come from the use of petrol engines, while the fuel is much less in price than petrol and consumption by the engine is 25 per cent, less than that of petrol. The engine has already been tested in the hangar. —British Official Wireless.
