(Rec. 7.0 p.m.) Berlin, September 22. There is indignation in Germany following upon the revelation that at a recent auction the original manuscript of “Deutschland Über Alles” was knocked down to foreign buyers for £3 13/-.—Aus-tralian Press Association.

“Deutschland Über Alles” (Germany over all), a national song in praise of German supremacy, was written in 1841 by A. H. Hoffmann von Fallersleben, and published in 1818 in a collection of German folk songs. It Is commonly sung to the tune of the Austrian Hymn to the Emperor, composed by F. J. Haydn in 1797.
