ARABS AND JEWS
BITTER REELING
PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY IN PALESTINE
WIDE POWERS OF POLICE Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 1.10 a.m.) London, September 20. The special correspondent of the Daily Mail at Jerusalem states that though the authorities have succeeded in restoring some Semblance of order in Jerusalem, precautions are still deemed necessary, suggesting that confidence hangs by a slender hair. Curfew has been extended, but the new order re-enacts that it is still illegal for anybody to carry a weapon, even a stick This has resulted in even walking sticks disappearing for fear of attracting the attention of police, who have the widest powers of arrest without warrant. Public assemblies are still prohibited. The authorities are convinced that Bolsheviks played a big part in the disturbances. Several Communists were arrested at Haifa as the result of a raid last night. Bitter feeling still prevails among the Arabs and Jews.—United Service.
