WHAT ARE THEY WEARING? Green and silver metal cloths fashion the hostess pyjamas worn by the Russian actress, Baclanova, who says that they are a most comfortable form of dress. The three-quarter- length coat and full trousers are composed of green cloth, whilst the swathed jumper is made of silver. A green and silver turban gives an effective finish to the suit. SPORTS HANDKERCHIEFS. Last season we had the giant handkerchief of chiffon or georgette for evening wear, but this year the fashion has extended to sports wear. The most popular ‘material is fine printed linen, which is almost like chiffon or muslin. The handkerchiefs are quite the size of a man’s. These “Giants” are worn either as a large collar, round the waist or dangling from the wrist. Mary Brian spotty one these mornings en route to the studio.

WET WEATHER NEEDS. Nowadays the rainy weather fashions arc just as smart as those for the sunny days. Smartly bolted leather coats are very much to the fore, .and they may be had in all colours, with charming little hats to tone. Esther Ralston looked very smart one rainy day recently when she arrived at the studios for work. She was wearing a coat of deep green leather with hat and bag to match, and her umbrella was carried out in silk of the same shade. TRANSPARENT VELVET. An exotic touch which Baclanova brings to her new evening ensemble is the metal turban. Her gown is of full black transparent velvet, which is entirely unadorned. From the snug waistline, the skirt falls into circular fullness, and shows one of the newest notes, the short train. Another new feature is the long tight sleeve which is being worn on quite a number of this season’s gowns.
