New Bed Coverings
It is only common sense that the bed should be the most important item in the bedroom, for upon it the rcstfulness of the night’s sleep depends. It is not, however, necessary for the bed to be ugly or aggressive and the new bedsteads are very pretty in design. Bedspreads do add a charming note of colour to the room and advantage is well taken of the lovely hues of artificial silk.
Here is a pretty idea for improving the plain bedspread. A square of patterned silk or cretonne is stitched in the centre of the plain bed spread giving it an entirely new appearance.
Another excellent idea can also be suggested. During the summer it is often not easy to find a place for the no longer needed eiderdown. It can be rolled up and put into a bolster-case made to match the bedspread. The effect is neat and attractive, and certainly solves a problem satisfactorily. A very good plan is to have two sets of curtains in the bedroom; one for winter and one for the summer months. Those in use in cold weather may be rather heavier, but even if the summer set is light in texture it should be lined with some material that will exclude light. Many women prefer a polished floor in a bedroom, with two or three rugs which can be taken up once a week to be brushed and shaken, to a carpet, which entirely covers the floor. Washable rugs are inexpensive. A DOCTOR’S OPINION OF SYDAL. “I cannot do without Sydal! Now in its ,43rd year and demand increasing steadily. Sold everywhere in two sizes. “USE VERY LITTLE AND RUB WELL IN.”—Advt,
