The Government hopes that the outstanding Parliamentary business will be concluded on Friday to enable the House to adjourn for the long summer recess. Matters remaining include the third reading of the Housing Bill providing for a revision of the Housing Subsidies and Development Bill which deals with the loan guarantees and grants for schemes connected with employment. Statements upon the naval policy and conversations regarding disarmament are expected to be made by the Prime Minister before the House adjourns. Members will also be asked to approve of supplementary estimates amounting to £206,000, of which about £lOO,OOO will be contributed to the National Radium Trust, the remainder going to the National Gallery to assist in the purchase of a Milton diptych and Titian’s picture of the Cormaro family. The grant in respect of the radium is made on the basis of £1 for every £1 provided by voluntary contribution to augment supply for the treatment of the sick, and for the advancement of knowledge in undergoing such treatment.— British Official Wireless. ADJOURNMENT ON FRIDAY. (Rcc. 7 p.m.) London, July 23. The Daily Telegraph says that Parliament will adjourn on Friday for the summer recess, reassembling on October 22 or 29. Mr Macdonald proposes to make a statement on naval construction on Friday, but it is not yet decided whether the Government will cut out all six submarines.
