EMPIRE’S SHARE OF EXPENSES. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, July 22. The Foreign Secretary, Mr Arthur Henderson, stated in the House of Commons that a contribution payable by the British Government to the League of Nations, including the International Labour Organization, during 1929 amounted to 2,702,000 gold francs or £lOB,OOO. The contribution of the British Empire as a whole was 6,593,000 gold francs. The percentage of the League’s expenses payable by the British Government was 10.65 per cent, and by the British Empire as a whole 26.2 per cent. —British Official Wireless.
