RABBIT BOARDS
NORTH ISLAND CONFERENCE.
IMPORTANT REMITS PASSED. (Per United Press Association.) Feilding, June 5. The Conference of North Island Rabbit Board Associations was held here to-day, Mr K. W. Dalrymple presiding. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe said in 1925 twenty million rabbitskins were exported, while last year twelve million were exported, thus showing that rabbits were decreasing. The Minister of Lands was anxious to assist in every way to exterminate the pest. The conference discussed the importation of Angora and Chinchilla rabbits, gnd passed a remit, that all present permits for the keeping of rabbits be estreated and no further permits for importation be issued. The conference discussed the possibility of foot, and mouth disease being introduced by imported rabbits, but threw out a remit covering this aspect of the matter. A remit, favouring the ward system for rabbit board ’elections was rejected and a remit that chairmen of rabbit boards should receive' an honorarium was also rejected. A remit was passed favouring restrictions on killing of stoats and weasels. The following officers were elected: President, Mr K. W. Dalrymple; vice-president, Mr B. N. Sandilands; executive, Messrs C. E. Johnston, A. G. Raikes and W. L. Grice. The next conference will be held in Feilding. .
