PLUNKET SOCIETY

MATAURA BRANCH. ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Mataura branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Coronation Hall yesterday afternoon. The president (Mrs A. N. Mac Gibbon) presided over a fair attendance of members. The annual rejiort and balance-sheet submitted by the secretary (Mrs J. S. Corbet) stated that the committee congratulated the society on its continued prosperity The finances were on a sound basis', there being a credit balance of £69 12/11. This year a house to house collection in conjunction with the annual Eastern District, appeal was made during the first week in May, which resulted in £32 being added to the funds and the addition of new members to the society. The membership stood at 58—quite a satisfactory increase. The committee placed on record its thanks to the Borough Council for a donation of £5, also to the Reginald MacKinnon Trust for £5, the Horticultural Society for £1 1/- and the Southland Frozen Meat Co. for £1 1/-. The society also wished to thank Mr Bannerman for the use of a room and the Gore Plunket Society for its interest and assistance and the general public for its generous support. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £69 12/11. The report and balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of Mesdames Mac Gibbon and McConnell. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: President, Mrs A. N. Mac Gibbon (re-elected) ; vice-presidents, Mesdames McConnell and W. Stewart; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. S. Corbet; committee, Dr. Woodhouse, Mesdames A' N. Mac Gibbon, McConnell, W. Stewart, E. J. Murphy, J. S. Corbet, W. Nixon, A. Cockburn and W. Buchanan with power to add. Mr T. K’ Fisher was re-elected auditor and it was resolved that he be thanked for his past sefvices.
