An extraordinary rally occurred in the final of the ladies’ open singles.tennis competition at Bordighera, Italy. Mrs Saf.terthwaite (Great Britain) and Signorina Valerio (Italy) were the finalists. The rally lasted, between 15 and 16 minutes, during which time some 425 strokes were played, drives and lobs alternating. At the end of the rally the Italian girl collapsed.
