“ENGLAND WILL FALL”
AGRICULTURE NEGLECTED. FRENCHMAN’S FOREBODING. (Rec. 10.55 p.m.) Paris, June 4. Le Matin reporta M. Herriot’s speech at Lyons, in which he said : “England will fall because she sacrificed ’agriculture in favour of coal mines. Because she has the freedom of the seas she thought she tould live by industry alone. What will happen when England’s gold reserve is exhausted? She is threatened as Venice and Carthage were. Let us take warning and preserve France as an agricultural country.” —Australian Press Association—United Service,
