CIYIL PILOT’S LICENSES. TESTS OF MARLBOROUGH TRAINEES. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 30. Major T. M. Wilkes, Director of Aviation, has just completed a thrcc-days’ test of a batch of Marlborough Aero Club's trainees for civil pilot's licenses. There were seven candidates and three —F. R. Dix, R. Grigg and S. H. Vavaaour —were success■ful. In the other cases the Issue of certificates was deferred until the next examination in about three weeks’ time. The tests were the first of the kind held in the Dominion and were a good deal more stringent than had been anticipated. The three successful pilots are the first Aero Club members in New Zealand to secure their tickets.
