ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES

FATALITY IN RAILWAY YARD. (Per United Press Association.) Hawera, May 28. William Kilgour, a labourer, aged about. 63, living at Patea, met what is believed to’have been instantaneous death in Patea railway yards at 6.20 last evening, when he was struck by a slowly moving engine of the incoming goods train from the north. From signs of impact low on the engine "cowcatcher and from the fact that no one was seen near the line from the engine as the train approached the station, it is believed deceased had previously fallen when attempting to cross the line, and was actually lying beside the line when the train drew in. KNOCKED DOWN AND KILLED. Wellington, May 28. William Henry Davies, a married man, aged 66, was knocked down and killed by a motor bus at Petone last night, a wheel passing over his head.
