Sydney, May 28.

“Signs are not wanting,” says the Evening News, in a leaderette, “that a tariff war is likely to develop between Australia and New Zealand. The Primary Producers’ Union at Grafton has declared that during the last four months £30,000 worth of the North Coast product has been displaced byimports from New Zealand, consequently the North Coasters are trying to move the Tariff Board, and it seems a reasonable and attainable ideal that Australia should be at lest self-supporting as far as food is concerned.”—Australian Press Association.
