The Storm from northern ports is expected to arrive at Bluff next Tuesday to discharge and load general merchandise. Thq:-, Wairuna is to leave Lyttelton today for Dunedin and Bluff, being due here on June 6 to continue discharge of her cargo from Pacific Coast ports. The vessel, upon completing here, will leave for New Plymouth. The Karetu was expected to clear Sydney yesterday for Dunedin-, Timaru, Lyttelton and Bluff in the order named, being due here early next month and returning afterwards to Sydney. The Waipiata is expected to leave Auckland to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff, being due here on June 8 to discharge general cargo. The Kaiapoi is set down to load at Westport this week for Lyttelton, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin and Bluff, being due here about June 8 to load for Melbourne via Greymouth. The Poolta cleared Sydney on Friday for New Plymouth, Nelson-, Wellington, Timaru and Bluff, being due here early next month. Upon completing here she will proceed to a West Coast port not yet named. The Marine Department advises that the position of the mole-end lights at the entrance to Wanganui Harbour is to be altered, and a river rear-lighted leading beacon installed. The Putiki lighted leading beacon- and the Landguard Bluff lighted leading beacon will be discontinued. Full details are published in last week’s Gazette. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Auckland is expected to arrive at Bluff on June 17 from Dunedin to load 23,500 freight carcases of meat, 9,500 crates of cheese and a quantity of general cargo for London and West Coast of the United Kingdom ports. Upon completing here the vessel will leave for Timaru. The two green lights situated at the outer end of the Eastern Extension Mole at Timaru have been discontinued owing to damage resulting from heavy weather. It is intended to replace the two green lights by one flashing white light. Two fixed red lights, 1032 feet apart, have been installed on Benvenue Cliff northward of the town. These lights have been erected on poles which arc not usable as day marks. The Federal steamer Surrey, under charter to the A. and A. Line, is due at Auckland on Monday next from New York. The vessel is carrying American cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is expected at Dunedin about June 21 and will proceed thence to New Plymouth to commence Homeward loading. The Surrey will also load at Oamaru, Bluff, Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton and Wellington. She will sail finally from the latter port about July 20, for London, via Panama. Personal Items. Captain S. A. Chatfield has been appointed to command the Kaitoke temporarily, relieving Captain J. Rankine, who has been granted holidays. Captain P. E. Ryan, of the Terawhiti, is at present ashore on eick leave. Mr. C. F. Gaby, fourth officer of the Marama, has transferred to the Komata as third officer temporarily, relieving Mr. J. V. Broadhouse for instructions. Mr. E. F. Rainbow, fourth officer of the Manuka, has been appointed third officer of the Wingatui, relieving Mr. H. J. Kemp for orders. Mr. T. C. Langford, fourth officer of the Maunganui, has signed off at Auckland. Mr. P. Morrison- has joined the Wairuna as chief engineer, relieving Mr. N. J. McMurrich for holidays. Mr. A. Thomson has rejoined the Tahiti as second engineer. Mr. Paterson has come ashore for instructions. Mr. D. Mcßean has rejoined the Wahine as second engineer after holiday leave. Mr. R. S. Dickie has joined the Kairanga as chief engineer in place of Mr. E. W. Mackley, who is on holiday leave, CALM SAILS.
