ANNUAL CHURCH CONCERT. (From Our Correspondent.) On Monday evening the Hedgehope Presbyterian Church had its annual concert and sale of produce. A special effort had been made and the district responded splendidly. The sale therefore took up a good part of the evening. Owing to sickness, many members of the Winton Concert Party were unable to be present. Those who gave items were Mr Tait, Miss Wilson, Mr Lindsay and Mr Studley, all receiving hearty encores. At the close of the evening ladies of the congregation handed round supper. Mr J. Graham, on behalf of those present, proposed a vote of thanks to the concert party
and also to Mr Green who lent his services as auctioneer. On Wednesday the local basketball team met the Limehills team at the Hedgehope schoolgrounds and were again defeated, the score being 22 points to nil. Miss M. Huchinson acted as referee. At the close of the match the visiting team was entertained at afternoon tea. In the evening the fortnightly euchre and dance was held. Music was supplied by Mr Horman and partner and Mr R. Diamond acted as M.C. Mr James Hetherington, who is at present spending his annual holidays with his parents, returns to Wellington on Tuesday. Mrs A. Mclntosh and daughter spent a few days with her mother, Mrs W. Horton. Mrs J. Thomas, together with her son and daughter, Jack and Gladys, are spending the term holidays with her daughter, Mrs J. Hetherington, Tokonui. Mrs T. Moir and family are holidaying at Glenham. Mrs W. Potts, who.has been visiting Napier, returned home during the week.
