AFGHAN THRONE
REBEL KING’S GRIP
AMANULLAH’S FORCES DEFEATED
TREACHERY OF OFFICERS
(United Press Assn.—By Telegraph—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Delhi, May 11. Amanullah’s forces were again defeated in an effort to reach Kabul. His supporter, General Nadir Kahn, with a small force attempted to reach the capital and might have succeeded but for the treachery of his officers, who sold a plan of the battle to the enemy, and he was hopelessly defeated.
Baccha Sakao, the rebel king, is now proclaimed Afghanistan’s strong man, and is attracting tribal support. If he succeeds in securing the allegiance of the Shinwaris he will be the supreme power.—Australian Press Association.
