WINTER SHOW
OPENING TO-MORROW.
ATTRACTIVE DISPLAY ANTICIPATED.
The Southland Winter Show, which will act as a preliminary to May Fair Week celebrations, will open to-morrow, and there are prospects that a successful season will be enjoyed. With several additional features and increased entries in several sections, the show should prove even more attractive than in the past, and there should be large attendances during all four days that it will be open to the public. _ _ An important feature of the exhibition will be the inclusion for the first time of classes for competition among members of the Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs, and it is expected that this will be a particularly interesting section. 'The section has attracted over 100 entries, and it is stated that the display will give a striking example of the value of the movement. The classes in this section include potatoes grown in the recent competition and record charts of the crops. In every respect the juvenile section should be the most interesting yet exhibited at the winter fixture as there has been a remarkable increase in the number of entries. All farming classes have been well supported, and the display of root crops should be particularly interesting. Live stock classes will again be a feature particularly in the case of fat Lambs. Wool classes have been very well supported, and there will be keen competition among some of the most prominent fleece exhibitors of the province.
