The Calm completed loading her 300 tons of outward Bluff cargo yesterday and sailed in the morning for Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton etc., on her usual coastal run. The Opihi completed discharge of her 800 tons of Bluff coal last evening and sailed for Dunedin where she had 150 tons for discharge. From Dunedin she proceeds to Greymouth to load for Wellington. The Waipiata is due at Bluff to-morrow from Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, to load general cargo for Wellington and Auckland via ports. The Union Company’s vessel Wairuna which arrived at Auckland on Tuesday evening from Pacific Coast ports, will later proceed to Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and New Plymouth to complete discharge. She is expected to arrive at Bluff on the 22nd inst. The Manuka is to leave Melbourne on Wednesday next for Wellington, Lyttelton Dunedin and Bluff, being due here on the 24th inst. and sailing next day for Melbourne direct. The local agents for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the Tairoa will load at Glasgow until June 29 and at Liverpool till Juny 6 for Bluff discharge. The vessel will arrive at Bluff early in September.

The Rangitiki, which recently visited Bluff, is attracting the same attention in the north as she did down here. The Wellington Post says that not since H.M.S. Hood was last in port has the King's wharf been visited by as many of the public in one afternoon as it was the other day when the New Zealand Shipping Company’s new motor liner Rangitiki was thrown open for public inspection. The afternoon was gloriously fine, and it is estimated that about 25,000 people visited the ship between 2 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. At times the queue extended nearly 300 yards along the wharf, but no difficulty was experienced by the police and Harbour Board staff in controlling the crowd. The Shaw, Savill steamer Kia Ora which was expected to leave London on Wednesday for Port Chalmers, Bluff, Lyttelton and New Plymouth, is due here about June 20 to discharge general cargo. The Piako from Cardiff via Cape Town, Wellington, Oamaru and Timaru, is expected to arrive at Bluff on the 23rd to continue Homeward loading, returning to Wellington from Bluff to complete. The vessel is scheduled to sail from Wellington finally on May 30 for London. The Norfolk, now at Port Chalmers, will commence loading for Home, proceeding to Bluff, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Gisborne to complete. The vessel is due here about the 20th and is scheduled to sail finally from Gisborne about June 12 for London via Panama.

The R.M.S. Makura, from Sydney, via Wellington, Rarotonga, and Papeete, Is due at San Francisco to-day, and leaves on the return voyage on May 15. The Otago Harbour Board has entered upon the final stage of the reclaiming work in the vicinity of Palmer’s quarry—the area extending to Black Jack’s point, states the Otago Daily Times. This work will occupy the next 12 months, and when it is completed a start will be made on the southern endowment. As the filling in of the latter area will be undertaken- by the new dredge, which is expected to leave Paisley in August, the work should be completed in a comparatively short time. The Karetu is expected to leave Sydney again about the 24th inst. for Bluff direct, being due here on the 29th and proceeding later to Dunedin. The steamer King Gruffydd was scheduled to leave Antwerp on May 2 with a full cargo of basic slag for discharge at Auckland and New Plymouth. She is due at Auckland about June 22. The steamer is owned by the King Line, London. Her tonnage is 5063 groas. She was built at Hongkong in 1919. Her former name was the Ambaticlos. The Shaw, Savill motor vessel Taranaki is expected to arrive at Bluff on the 22nd inst. from Townsville to load frozen meat, dairy' produce and general cargo. Upon completing ■ here the vessel will leave for Port Chalmers, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Gisborne and Auckland being scheduled to clear the last mentioned port on June 12 for London via Panama. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Valacia from London via Lyttel-

ton and Port Chalmers, is due at Bluff early next month. After discharging general cargo here the vessel will proceed to Timaru. Cable advice states that the Shaw, Savill motor ship Zealandic arrived at Southampton on Tuesday afternoon from Port Chalmers, via Panama, after a fast passage of 33 days. The vessel left Port Chalmers on April 4. The Union Company’s steamer Sussex, which was damaged through a fire breaking out in No. 4 hold, was expected to leave Sourabaya on Wednesday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The vessel, which loaded Eastern merchandise at Calcutta, Penang, Rangoon, Singapore, and Samarang, is due at Auckland about May 25. RAIN DELAYS WORK. Work on the waterfront was given interrupted yesterday on account of rain. HUNTINGDON HELD UP. The Federal line steamer Huntingdon, which was to have left Bluff yesterday for Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, Gisborne and Auckland was unable to clear port on account of strong winds and heavy rains.
