DARLINGHURST BRAWL
JEFFS IN CRITICAL CONDITION. Sydney, May 9. The shooting of Phillip Jeffs, the detectives believe, hinges upon a fierce underworld brawl in Darlinghurst and they suspect that traffic in cocaine is the evil responsible. Jeffs has refused to have his dying deposition taken. The doctors hold out no hope of recovery, and every hour the injured man’s condition is growing more critical.—Australian Press Association.
