WHALING INDUSTRY

EXPLOITING THE ANTARCTIC. IMPORTANT RESULTS EXPECTED. London, May 7. It is authoritatively learned that the Discovery’s voyage will probably produce important results in the development of whaling in which Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania will participate both commercially and financially. Inquiries indicate the cordial co-operation by Britain with Australia and New Zealand to stimulate the whaling industry in the Antarctic which shares with Labrador the possibility of being the world’s future chief sources of supply of whale oil.—Australian Press Association.
