BIBLE CLASSES

CENTRAL DISTRICT SUB-UNION,

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Bible Class Central District Sub-union was held in the Centre Bush Church on Monday, April 15. The president, the Rev. J. Johnston, presided over a fair attendance of representatives from Dipton, Limehills Lochiel and Winton. The meeting was opened with singing, a short scripture reading and prayer. Reports of the Young Women’s Easter Camp were read by Misses R. McKerchar, W. Woodnorth, and E. Marshall. The Rev. Johnston expressed thanks to the campers for preparing such splendid reports, adding that as he listened to the reports given he caught the note of inspiration that each had received and was sure that the camp had been a means of bringing fresh life into the classes and a greater desire to extend the movement througout our area.

The meeting also received an insight into the young men’s camp at Wyndham through a report written by two of the young men who had attended. Mr. Lewis, the Visitation Convener, presented a scheme which he had drawn up for the next four months i.e. May, June, July and August. A copy of this scheme will be sent to every class in the Central Sub-union. The president expressed indebtness to Mr. Lewis for drawing up such a splendid scheme; one which during the above period each class paid two visits and received two visits from other classes not too far distant. The visiting class would conduct the meeting and the entertaining class would forward a report of the visit to the convener. The dates of the visits were to be arranged by the classes concerned, and the success of the scheme rested with the leaders to see that visits were carried out.

It was decided that the annual rally on June 3 be at Winton again this year. It was stated that this rally was for the whole of the Central Sub-union and that it was the duty of the various class representatives present to make suggestions for the days programme, so that the very best arrangements could be made. It was pleasing to hear the members expressing their opinions of the suggestions put before them, and by doing so it showed the interest that is being taken in the coming rally. A circular giving full particulars about, the Rally is being prepared and will be sent to each class within the next week or so. Mention was made of some classes that were not sending representatives to the union meetings. It is hoped that they will be represented at the next meeting, which is to be held at Winton on May 13.
