CLAIMANTS EXCHANGE PLEASANTRIES.

“HERETICAL ACTS” BY AMANULLAH.

(Rec. 8.45 p.m.) Simla, April 22. Habibullah has issued a proclamation denouncing Amanullah as an unbeliever, heretic. and detainer of the Holy Book of the Ulema, who procured the assassination of his father and several other prominent people. The proclamation cites 26 heretical acts by Amanullah, who is accused of wasting millions of rupees on his European tour. Habibullah attacks the abolition of the purdah system and invites the populace to inspect a photograph of Amanullah’s wife “driving naked in a motor car.” He charges Amanullah with shaving off his moustache against the Koramic injunction, making him look like a butter-fly.

Amanullah has issued a brief counterproclamation, asking whether the Afghans will consent to a menial water-carrier’s son ruling them—Australian Press Association —United Service.
