VAGRANT VERSE

THE TOLL OF YEARS. (Written for the Southland Times). Some day I shall return on long-forgotten ways, and crumbling ruins I shall see lit by the suns of older days. Weeds in the olden earth where scented roses ran, long grasses on the natty paths. ■where romped the boy who now is man.

Returned, by all forgot, rich or strong or glad, I shall, returning to old ways, feel older still in years, and sad. —Shaun O’Sullivan. Invercargill, April 19, 1929.
