ECHO OF A CONTROVERSY. In a recent issue of Collier’s Magazine, Mr H. C. McDonald of Ashburton wrote interestingly about New Zealand Edgeworth enthusiasts. “I am one of them myself,” he said, “and New Zealand appears to possess quite a large number of them. Quite recently a spirited correspondence engaged the columns of one of our leading newspapers, the controversional subject being ‘Who has smoked Edgeworth longest?’ In fact a stranger to New Zealand at the time might have assumed that, the bulk of our population was composed of octogenarian smokers of Edgeworth.” Mr McDonald notices how smokers of this fine tobacco are continually inducing other smokers to get the Edgeworth habit.—Advt.
