Winter Brightness
, (From Our Correspondent.) London. In winter when the necessity for brightness makes itself apparent, colour plays an important part in our lives—not just crude colour, but the harmony of it, and, the idea for women to choose their gowns to tone with their rooms is rapidly spreading.
A room of beige and soft browns would naturally call for a gaily-hued frock, and in this case any colour would be suitable from glowing cornelian to pale primrose yellow. As a contrast, in a room of blue and orange only a gown of leaf green, earth brown, or black could be worn to advantage. If the wallpaper of a room should be patterned choose one of its colourings for a dress, but be sure the material is a plain one. Cushions often prove a keynote for the choice of colour. With rose and platinum, what prettier than dephinium blue in some diaphanous material, such as chiffon or georgette? Shades of lilac, too, would l>e charming.
