MOTOR TRANSPORT
SCOPE OF DEPARTMENT’S ADMINISTRATION. OUTLINED BY MINISTER-IN-CHARGE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, April 15. The scope of the administration of the Department of Transport was outlined today by the Minister-in-Charge (the Hon. W. A. Veitch) in reply to a question as to the functions of the new Department of State. Mr Veitch stated that Cabinet had decided that the Department should administer the following Acts and regulations: Motor Vehicles Act 1924 and regulations thereunder; Motor Omnibus Traffic Act 1926 and regulations thereunder; Lights on Vehicles Act 1925; Sections 155 to 159 and 164 to 166 of the Public Works Act, 1928, dealing with motor lorry regulations and amendments; Auckland Transport Board Apt, 1928; Motor Spirits Taxation Act, 1927, and amendments and regulations thereunder; Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act, 1928.
