DOMINION TOURNEY THE RINKS CHAMPION- - ship - RESULTS OF SECTIONAL PLAY (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 12. The bowlers engaged in the New Zealand rink championship have no complaint about the weather to-day. It was Wellington at its best, there being bright sunshine and an absence of the wind which proved so troublesome during the last two days. The sections to-day were played the full 25 heads. x Following are the results:

The following are the wins and losses of those who have won five games or more at the end of the eighth and final round of section play. Six wins qualified for post section play. SECTION A.

COMMENT ON THE PLAY. (Special to the Times.) Wellington, January 13) Bowling weather was glorious for the fourth day, rinks of 25 heads being played and on completion of the 7th round Do ; herty’s was the only rink unbeaten, the Kelburn team just beating Watson (United) in the morning 25 —24. Bartlett (Nelson) then met the Kelburnites and won 27 —18 after a great uphill fight on the part on the Kelburn rink. After the eigh'th round 25 rinks were left in the competition with seven wins and 14 with six wins. i

Thomson met and lost to .Morgan (Edgeware) on Khandallah green 22 —23. In the seventh round the Invercargill men then met Dee, of Nelson and after a very fine game in which the rink from Invercargill showed their best form' to date, they defeated their opponents by six . points—--26—20 but they fail to qualify with four wins and four losses. They struck form too late in the competition. . The completion of the eighth saw B. Hutchinson with five wins and two losses, Langley six wins and two losses (qualifying) Wyatt one win and seven losses, J. Hutchison three wins and five losses, Ferguson three wins and five losses, Edwards (Temuka) seven wins and one loss, Bentley five wjns and three losses. The only Australian to win a section with seven wins was Harrison,' of Victoria, and .Griffin (New South Wales) has six wins and two losses. . . The draw for the post section takes place on Monday. ■ ■ ■ Yates (N.S.W.) gave M. Walker (Auckland) a surprise defeat, the Australians having received a bad hiding at the hands of Slater (Oamaru) 37 —8 in the third round and were generally regarded as a good thing for the Aucklanders but the New South Wales men played one out of the box and Wenting .on the last head ob-

tained a brace and the genial professor lost his first game in the rinks. Walker won his first game on Saturday beating Slater 24—15 and in the eighth he met Gordon, St. Johns, and defeated him also. The bowlers had a great “Kohero” on Saturday evening and on Sunday a grand outing took place at ’the Trentham racecourse. The pairs will be played on Monday and Tuesday and the resumption of rink play takes place on Wednesday.
